The College of Health Scholars program (COHS) at Lehigh University is a competitive scholarship for students entering into the College of Health who demonstrate leadership, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to improving human health in the U.S. and around the world.
If awarded the COHS scholarship, you, along with other COHS in your cohort, will receive a full-tuition, four-year undergraduate scholarship plus an experiential learning fund of $5,000 to be used for transformative opportunities in health. Our Scholars enter into a co-curricular, cohort-based program centered on health innovation leadership, engaging deeply with mentors and peers.

What College of Health Scholars Receive

Four-year Co-curricular Pathway
A co-curricular, cohort-based professional development experience.
First year
Build your foundation in health leadership. Students complete the Professional Foundations Certification, meet alumni and peer mentors, participate in health innovation workshops, and may conduct summer research with faculty.
Sophomore year
Prepare for internships and global impact. Scholars complete the Internship Readiness Certification, connect with mentors, and may pursue a Global Social Impact Fellowship, a Lehigh Valley Social Impact Fellowship or Silicon Valley Innovation Internship.
Junior year
Expand your experience through study abroad, internships, and applied skills. Scholars complete the Applied Professional Skills Certification, apply for summer internships, and can explore study abroad, health NGO engagement, or startup-focused opportunities.
Senior year
Launch into jobs, graduate school, or a co-op. Scholars complete the Leadership in Practice Certification, continue mentoring relationships, and prepare for their next step after Lehigh. This health leadership program emphasizes professional readiness and impact.
Application Timeline
Review Lehigh scholarship deadlines carefully and complete the college scholarship application on time.
- August 1, 2026: Lehigh application opens.
- January 1, 2027: Lehigh application deadline.
- February 1, 2027: College of Health Scholars application deadline.
- March 2027: College of Health Scholar Finalists are invited to campus for interviews and a class visit.

FAQs
The College of Health Scholars program is a selective undergraduate scholarship and leadership pathway at Lehigh University for College of Health students interested in improving human health through leadership, innovation, mentoring, and experiential learning.
Students must apply to the College of Health and complete the College of Health Scholars Application by the noted deadline. COHS students must maintain full-time enrollment in the COH and maintain good academic standing as outlined in the University Catalog.
The program awards the scholarship annually to 4 or 5 students in each incoming class.
College of Health Scholars receive full tuition plus a $5,000 experiential learning fund. Students also receive four levels of certification through the College’s Career Readiness Pathway.
The experiential learning fund can be used for transformative opportunities such as internships, research, fieldwork, study abroad, conference participation, and other approved health-related experiential learning.
Yes. The program encourages COH students to pursue study abroad experiences and other international opportunities available to them.
Yes. All COH students may earn the four levels of certification in the career readiness pathway: Professional Foundations, Internship Readiness, Applied Professional Skills, and Leadership in Practice.
Students first apply to Lehigh University, then complete the College of Health Scholars application by the stated scholarship deadline. For the Fall 2027 cycle, the Lehigh deadline is January 1, 2027, and the COHS application is due February 1, 2027.
