BA Community & Global Health

Prepare to improve health outcomes in communities and across the world. Lehigh’s BA in Community and Global Health blends social science, data, and real-world experience to help students address the most pressing health challenges in their communities and beyond.

Lehigh’s Community and Global Health Major

  • Learn to design, implement, and evaluate health programs in diverse communities.
  • Combine quantitative and qualitative research methods for a holistic understanding of health.
  • Study health through a global and cultural lens, preparing to work in the U.S. or abroad.
  • Engage in hands-on experiences through internships, fieldwork, and faculty research.
  • Build an interdisciplinary foundation that connects public health, policy, and social impact.

What Is Community Health? What Is Global Health?

Community health focuses on improving health outcomes for specific populations through education, policy, and targeted interventions at the local or regional level.

Global health, on the other hand, examines health issues that transcend borders. A global health major prepares students to address worldwide health disparities, infectious disease prevention, and access to care in low-resource settings.

Together, these perspectives equip Lehigh graduates with the skills to make a measurable difference in health, both locally and globally. See our full course list.

Community Health vs. Public Health Major

While public health majors often focus on studying population-level data and the factors that influence health, community health majors apply that knowledge to take action like developing, managing, and evaluating programs that improve real-world outcomes.

Lehigh’s Community & Global Health major bridges both areas: students gain the analytical foundation of public health and the cultural and social understanding to create effective, community-based solutions.
