At the College of Health’s annual Experiential Learning & Research Symposium on September 11, 2024, students showcased a broad range of experiences through an open house style, poster session, highlighting internships, research with faculty, international travel, and more! Students in the College of Health are learning about community-based research practices that help address both local community health issues and global health initiatives. The event underscored the College's commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, demonstrating how research and practical experience are used to tackle complex health challenges.
Dean Beth Dolan joined nearly 40 COH undergraduate and graduate students in the HST building as they displayed their posters on a range of topics, such as infectious disease modeling, the ethics of pig kidney xenotransplantation, air pollution mitigation, and food security and environmental justice as public health issues. Some students traveled to Sierra Leone this summer through Lehigh’s Global Social Impact Fellowship program to study the role of AI in strengthening healthcare access among other topics.
Gaining real world experience is central to a College of Health education, equipping students to apply their knowledge and skills to make an impact within public health. All students have the opportunity to engage in research with faculty, field experiences, internships, and study abroad.
