Dr. Albatineh is a teaching full professor with training in statistics and biostatistics. His research is in cluster analysis with emphasis on indices of similarity and how it is applied in the fields of public health and medicine. Furthermore, Dr. Albatineh conducts research in Biostatistical modeling and statistical computations and simulations. As health surveys are commonly used to screen for symptoms of diseases, Dr. Albatineh is interested in building and validating health surveys using factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis.  In addition, Dr. Albatineh is interested in evidence-based methods and in conducting meta-analyses. Dr. Albatineh recently has worked with diabetologists, biochemists, and physicians at Dasman Diabetes Institute on blood biomarkers (e.g., OPG, FABP4, SOST, GDF-15, APOA5, LP(a)) related to bone mineral density, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, and cancer. Dr. Albatineh authored/co-authored 75+ peer-reviewed research papers published in national and international journals.

Dr. Albatineh comes to Lehigh University with 20+ years of teaching experience. He had faculty appointments at Nova Southeastern University (Fort Lauderdale), Florida International University (Miami), and most recently at Kuwait University (Kuwait) where he was a Biostatistics faculty member in the Department of Community Medicine and Behavioral Sciences within the College of Medicine.  He taught Biostatistics to medical, Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Public Health students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Dr. Albatineh enjoys collaborations with colleagues from all disciplines and cherishes John Tukey’s famous saying, “The best thing about being a statistician is that you get to play in everybody’s backyard.” Dr. Albatineh is passionate about teaching Biostatistics and working with students.
