Community Health Infographics Project

  -

By: Ava Barrentine, '25

During the Spring 2023 semester, Professor Kate Jackson tasked her CGH 001 students with creating infographics based on a chosen population health issue or concern. The class focused on the importance of improving the health of society through health promotive behaviors and disease prevention, education, policy development, and community empowerment. Students were taught the fundamentals of theoretical, methodological, and practical aspects of community health, in addition to how community-health issues correspond to broader issues within the community and society as a whole.

For their end-of-the-year assignment, Professor Jackson's students were challenged to make "a creative, public-facing data and fact-informed health communication". Each student chose a specific health issue and determined the population they needed to reach in order to initiate the change as well as the steps necessary to accomplish the positive impact or outcome the student hoped to attain. In alignment with the experiential learning goals set by Professor Jackson, her student's work is now published in this Blog as a collage.
